Ursula Selby
Training and development of young horses is Ursula’s passion. From growing up on a sport horse breeding farm, to participating in Pony Club, Ursula had a strong start in the equine field. Liz Redshaw of Colwyn Stables was her first coach and gave her a solid foundation in hunter jumper and course negotiation. She moved on into eventing with M.H. Lessard of Equus 3D, where she learned the basic fundamentals of starting and training young and off track horses. Under M.H. she competed successfully into the Preliminary level.
Working with Marc and Belinda Blouin, Ursula developed an in depth knowledge of equine nutrition and sport physiology for high performance horses. Ursula made her way to Woodbine Racetrack where she obtained her assistant trainers license and worked alongside great trainers such as Reade Baker and Josie Carroll. The racetrack provided an intense learning environment that greatly expanded Ursula’s skill set in training, lameness assessment / treatment and first aid, as well as honing her riding skills. Ursula has been fortunate enough to have traveled from New York to California with top race horses she has helped develop.
Ursula is a firm believer of life long learning and continues to develop her horsemanship with industry leaders.
